I’ve been a fighter all my life, even before I made it my career. As a kid in the foster system, I didn’t have any other choice. But I’ve never fought for something–for someone–as hard as I fought for Lucy. I was her protector, her hero–and she was my everything. From the day we met, she made our grim days in Atlanta’s notorious Brighton Park fade away–leaving only us.

But we broke each other’s hearts, and we did a damn good job of it. A decade has passed since I last saw her, but not a day goes by that I don’t think of her clear blue eyes or easy smile. So when I see her at one of my matches–and find out that she’s engaged–I need to understand why she turned her back on me all those years ago. Because no matter what I do, no matter how many guys I knock out in the boxing ring, I can’t forget her

So I’m not giving up on her. I’m not walking away.

I’m going to fight for Lucy one last time.

Title:  A Love Like Yours

Author:  Robin Huber
Genre:  Contemporary Romance

My Rating:  4 stars

A LOVE LIKE YOURS is going to rip apart your emotions and hand them back to you, a bit bruised, a bit wiser but healed – eventually.

Sam and Lucy have had rough lives and one event changed everything for them.  Now years later, they might have a second chance except that Lucy is engaged and making the choice of her heart isn’t going to be an easy one for Lucy.

There might be some annoyance triggers for some readers, for others they might be more.  In many ways, there is a love triangle between Sam, Lucy, and Drew that is understandable for a while but for those who consider a kiss as cheating then there’s that.  Also, there is a cliffhanger-ish ending, and that is a real trigger for me.  Some would consider the ending the lead into the next story, and it is, but the cliffhanger feel was very strong for me.  It didn’t take away from my enjoyment of Lucy and Sam eventually finding each other again considering this is a duet styled story, but I always think a series can be done (even if it’s short) by ending one story and then picking up on the next.  I’m not a writer, I don’t pretend to be – but as a reader, I know what I’m comfortable with and cliffhangers are not comfortable at all.

We will go between Sam’s and Lucy’s POV, and a bit of moving between history to their present as well.  There is a lot that I enjoyed about A LOVE LIKE YOURS and some things that I got over myself about because the connection between Lucy and Sam was so strong and so very real.  A STORY LIKE OURS comes out in June so there isn’t a long wait to continue this duet.  Overall, I enjoyed this debut story by Robin Huber and I’ll continue the journey.
