When Libbie McMaster gets guilted into going out on Halloween night, the last thing on her mind is finding her mate. Her self-imposed seclusion has served her well over the past nine months, keeping the ghosts, goblins, and bad memories at bay. But when she meets Jay, her whole world is turned upside down.
From the moment Libbie walked into the bar, Jay can’t keep his eyes off her. Everything about her screams one thing—his. He’s willing to give her the time she needs to get used to the idea of being mated to a werewolf, but when the creatures that lurk in the shadows threaten her, he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even if it means fighting her demons.
Read on for my thoughts on Bump In The Night. No true spoilers, promise.
Just when I thought there weren’t any new, interesting paranormal combinations under the moon, along comes Bump In The Night, to prove me wrong.
Libbie and Jay are mated. Libbie a witch-daemon and Jay a shifter werewolf-witch. The knowledge that they are mates is instant for each, but to get to that mating part is going to have to wait a bit. Libbie can see and talk to ghosts, and one particular ghost is very insistent that Libbie help her husband who is taking his wife’s death very badly. Unfortunately, Kurt is going to cause a boatload of trouble before all of this can be resolved.
Bump In The Night is an intense short story of the lengths that bonded mates will go to protect their mates. It’s also the first story in the Deadly Whispers series, so there is a bit of a setup of the purpose in the plot and characters that will be involved with Libbie and Jay. Libbie is one badassed witch and she has no troubles trying to keep her mate out of the danger zone. Being an Alpha shifter, Jay doesn’t listen very well. As they do battle for one misguided soul, a deeper battle will be raged to keep the mates alive and together.
You will find raging demonic battles, steamy sex scenes and engaging secondary characters in this novel. But Libbie and Jay are compelling as the newly found mates who will do anything to protect each other.
I enjoyed this one very much and I’m looking forward to continuing the series. it looks to be an intriguing one. Definitely recommend Bump In The Night for any paranormal romance reader.
*I received an e-ARC of Bump In The Night from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
