No one is more surprised than Asher, one of the oldest vampires on Earth, that he’s attracted to vamp hunter Jo Radcliffe. She’s smart, a talented slayer, and she’s gorgeous. Something about her pulls at him like no one ever has before. For a man, whose name strikes fear in everyone—this is something new and intriguing. And quite possibly deadly, if she discovers his secret.

Jo has two things in common with the handsome Asher—they are both slayers and someone is messing with them in a very-much-trying-to-kill-them way. She’s not so happy about joining forces with a dude she doesn’t know. But he’s sexy as hell and really good at his job as one of the Forgotten Brotherhood, whose business it is to execute misbehaving paranormals.

She knows she’s bait in a larger plot to harm Asher and the Brotherhood. And there is nothing he won’t do, no line he won’t cross, to keep her safe—which may be the weakness that destroys them both.

I am loving the ‘Forgotten Brotherhood‘ series, and now we get to dive into ‘Burning Ash‘… Asher’s story, possibly the oldest vampire on earth and he is kicking butt sexy, powerful, and about to meet his match in vampire hunter Jo.  Asher is able to appear human – he can walk in the sun, eat anything he desires, and doesn’t give off that evil vampire vibe, but never doubt just how powerful he is.  He and the other members of the Brotherhood take down the baddest of the bad in paranormals, yet this time around he isn’t convinced that he and Jo have not been set up, made bait for something even bigger to come.  And he wouldn’t be wrong in that assumption.

When Jo gets an untraceable email stating that a crazed vampire is about to go on a killing spree she heads in without hesitation.  She’s a skilled vampire hunter and was doing just fine, she thought, when a human will step in to help take down evil incarnate in action.  Asher also gets that untraceable email that leads him to this spot to stand back a bit and watch Jo in action.  He’ll have no problems taking a hand in putting one bad vampire down, yet he’s also aware that putting him (a vampire) and Jo (a vampire hunter) together by an unknown source is not a coincidence but part of someone’s plan – and he’s going to get to the bottom of it all… and perhaps find the love of his long life along the way.

The chemistry between Asher and Jo was off the charts from the start and didn’t really slow down once Jo realized that Asher is one of those she hunts.  And neither intends to be a puppet for the unseen puppetmaster to play out their unknown master plan.

The action is fast, the steaminess is beyond hot, and the secondary characters bring so much to ‘Burning Ash‘.  I had a blast back in this world.  Although each story is complete in itself, with a thread woven throughout, I’d still suggest reading in order (if you can) for you’ll get a better feel and understanding of this world.  The villain is vile, and figuring out the whys of it all was an intriguing part of this story for me.  Asher and Jo were perfect together in their imperfections.  Talk about opposites attract, right?   We do get the chance to meet up with earlier book friends, and perhaps a hint of what is yet to come.  If you love a really good Paranormal Romantic Suspense – then this series is for you.

(just one little thing tho – my Asher, the one I’ve read descriptions of is blonde – and although hot and handsome, that dude on the cover is not blonde… not a biggie but noticeable to me)
