Kate, a single woman in her 30s, works as a designer/decorator for a large interior landscaping company bedecking and bedazzling St. Louis for the holidays. Her work keeps her from spending the holidays with her family and masks the loneliness and pain after a nasty breakup just before Christmas.
Known as “The Christmas Angel” for providing holiday beauty to the city’s offices, homes, and malls, Kate’s world changes when she decorates the home of a widowed single dad. Both soon realize that life (and love) must go on somehow and that perhaps Christmas (and guardian) angels are all around, if we only choose to see them.
Stand Alone Title
There are times in life that we really need the ability to believe in miracles, to sense the angels all around us… but those are often times when our willingness to see and believe is at it’s lowest point. This is the state of mind and emotions that Kate and Chad are in this Christmas. Only a little boy, Coop, serious beyond his years seems to have that childlike wonder left to take a chance to believe.
Last year around Christmas Chad’s wife lost her battle against cancer leaving her husband and son in a world empty of her loving touch. Chad is simply going through the motions of life, and Coop needs his dad more than ever before. Kate has experienced the heartbreak of an unexpected breakup. Life was supposed to be so different. Now she’s burying herself in work but her special magical Christmas touch isn’t there this year. All the while she’s creating beauty in the places she decorates, that beauty is mostly lost on her. Until she meets a very special little boy and his grieving father. Somehow these three unlikely people will heal each other and create a Christmas that none of them is ever likely to forget.
Christmas Angels is a short story with such a powerful message wrapped up in the beauty of the Christmas season. Angels are all around us, we might just not recognize them when we can’t see their wings. This is a story of hope, healing and new beginnings that will touch your heart for years to come.
