It’s been eight long years since Michael Gallagher has laid eyes on Shay Angel, back when he was a boy from the most prominent family in town and she was a girl from the wrong side of the tracks. But he hadn’t cared about their differences – until one bad decision landed her in jail.
That was years ago and now he’s back in Harmony Harbor for the holidays. So when Shay goes missing, Michael is intent on finding her – and finding out if their sizzling attraction is still there. But he’s now a district attorney, and it looks like Shay is once again on the wrong side of the law.
Titles in this series include: Mistletoe Cottage – Christmas with an Angel – Starlight Bridge (2017) – Primrose Lane (2017)
While I really enjoyed Michael and Shay’s story, what you need to understand from the start is that Christmas With An Angel is not a full length novel, it’s not even a novella – it is a prelude, the background story to Michael and Shay’s history. It is definitely a set up for a future novel, one that I’ve an idea when it will fall within the series… but you’ll need to discover that for yourself. It’s very short, takes place over about 24 hours – but what action packed, emotional hours they are.
I find it impossible to actually talk much about this story without giving away major spoilers. So, to sum it up a bit. Michael made a decision years ago that had a life changing impact on Shay, and her family. Now both still have feelings for each other, but they are well and truly buried beneath what happened. It seems that Shay is in trouble again, and Michael cannot walk away without doing something. That something was the wrong thing for all the right reasons. We are left with a “Happy For Now” type of ending with the promise to learn more of the mystery that is Michael and Shay at some point in the future.
Frustrated and intrigued at the same time is my reaction to this story. I want to know the rest of it… now. But anticipation is what I’m left with until their story is told later in the Harmony Harbor series. Yet the truth is, this grabbed my attention with a well thought out event that peaked my interest to the point of needing to know… and that is a great hook to keep me watching for the release of Michael and Shay’s story.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this novel. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this story.*
