First off, it’s quite an accomplishment to have 300 books published – so, congratulations to Marie Ferrarella for that milestone.  I’ve enjoyed her storytelling over the years and I hope there are many more stories yet to be told to come.

Now, on to Colton Baby Conspiracy.  In this new Colton family spin-off, we are dropped right into the action as Marlowe discovers not only that her one night of passion with Bowie, the son of her father’s vowed rival, resulted in an unexpected pregnancy, but added to that internal turmoil is the email that has been sent to all the members of the company’s board.  An email with an accusation that will have immediate and longterm results.  When Bowie and Marlowe both are targeted almost immediately after their one night together – their situation and the story heats up with all kinds of possibilities – and suspects.

Colton Baby Conspiracy is fast-paced, intense, with interesting characters and a thread of a threat that will (it seems) be woven throughout the series.  I adored Bowie, he’s blindsided by everything that happens but his turnaround rings true to someone discovering they’re in love and changing their mind on what they considered their future.  Marlowe is not a character I connected with easily for she is prickly, hot-tempered, and getting her to back down from anything, even when she is totally wrong, seems an impossible task.  The chemistry and growing affection between Marlowe and Bowie rang true for me – I simply didn’t like Marlowe much, but that happens sometimes.  There are villains here, some hidden I’m sure, others in the open waiting to see what they will do, and of course, some twists, turns, and surprises.  In all, it’s a good beginning to the new series.
