Colton Family Bodyguard is the third title in the Coltons of Mustang Valley multi-author mini-series and moves the overarching storyline of the series forward a bit more with some additional suspenseful storylines.
Although a member of the wealthy, influential Colton family, Callum isn’t directly involved in the Colton Oil Business. This former Navy SEAL is part of an elite, top of the line security company where his expertise as a bodyguard is put to excellent use. Callum’s father is in a coma, his brother is under suspicion of shooting their father even though it’s just been revealed that he had been switched at birth – so Ace isn’t really Callum’s blood brother, but that changes nothing as far as love and loyalty go. On this night, Callum happens to be in the security firm’s office staring out the window and notices something off about a car parked on the street. Following his instincts, Callum will casually wander down to the ground floor and will save a little 5-year-old girl and her mother from being run over by a car. Little Evie saw something she wasn’t supposed to notice which now places her and her mother, Hazel in life-threatening danger. From this moment on their lives will be intertwined and the danger to two adults’ hearts is just as real as the other threats they will face.
Colton Family Bodyguard is tense, fast-paced and will keep you on your toes throughout Callum, Hazel, and Evie’s story. Be prepared for a scene-stealer in little Evie for she is beyond adorable. The emotional depth of this story caught me off-guard for while I expected the danger, I wasn’t expecting the pain Callum had gone through in his past or how greatly it still affects his everyday life. Hazel was easy to understand, even when she makes snap judgments – if you give her the time to figure it out she will come to a logical conclusion (like most of us). There is more going on than first seems and following Callum and Hazel as they track down clues, figure out puzzles and steadily fall more in love each day was an adventure that I loved every second of.
If you love a really good Romantic Suspense with believable situations and characters that ring true, both the good guys and the vile villains then you’ll want to pick up Callum and Hazel’s story real soon. There is a lot going on in Colton Family Bodyguard and I loved every suspenseful moment of my time in this world.
I own a Kindle edition of Colton Family Bodyguard.
