Life is going as planned. But when her high school sweetheart comes riding back to town, this self-sufficient woman feels something she hasn’t felt in years: red-hot, unbridled need for the handsome cowboy who left her behind.
Lucas Cortez doesn’t plan on being in town long. Yet when he sees Naomi again-the gorgeous girl he never stopped loving-he’s tempted to hang up his hat and stay awhile. If a second chance love story is one of your guilty pleasures, as it is mine, then I’d imagine that you’d love Comeback Cowboy. Once Lucas and Naomi’s feet were set on a path that would lead them to a happy future. Right up until Lucas made a decision that he would pay for in so many unfair ways. Naomi had no choice but to move forward with her life, a life that didn’t work out the way she’d hoped – except for her daughter, Gracie. Now a single parent her focus in on giving her daughter the best life possible, keeping her head down against the local gossips and simply living a good life in her small town. All that changed when Lucas came back to down. Now she had to make her own decision. Follow logic or follow her heart once again.
I enjoyed Comeback Cowboy so very much. It pulled me into the story with interesting characters, a story line that made sense and was believable, along with some nasty people to loathe along the way. Sometimes even a romance needs a good villain. Watching Lucas and Naomi reconnect, make choices that would lead them back to the happiness path was a delightful journey. Oh sure, there are twists and turns along the way. Nothing worthwhile comes too easily, but they stick, they find a way back to each other… and in the end a love that never grew cold would bring them their happy ending. Gracie is adorable and quite the perfect little one to steal a scene here and there. The rough moments felt so real, the tender moments were worth the fight and I simply enjoyed the heck out of this couple. Sometimes you do get a second chance, not a do over, that’s unrealistic but a chance to rekindle a love that never stopped, facing the present and the future together – now that’s a worthwhile goal.
I would recommend this story and this series to any Romance reader. You’ll find believable characters, a good, solid story line, secondary characters to love or hate and a love worth fighting for.
