My Rating: 4 stars
Dark Alpha’s Night is intense, steamy and completely addicting. I’ll be very frank and say that I did not do my proper homework when requesting this title – I thought I had read earlier books in this series, the fact is I have not. So. I very strongly believe this is a series that needs to be read in order. There are events, previous couples and side issues that I wish I had firsthand knowledge of before reading this story. Did it prevent me from enjoying Ettie and Daire’s story? Not one little bit. I simply wish I had started from the beginning is all. I could follow the story in front of me quite well, it simply is my preference to read in order so that I don’t miss nuances and details that obviously cannot completely be retold in every story. In fact, I will be going back to the start of this series, so in some ways reading this one out of order only gave me a new series to pick up.
I enjoyed my time in this complicated world. Enough so that I need to know more. The characters are strong, at times funny, always powerful and likable (except the bad guys, of course). It’s possible to read this book on its own, I know I felt I was missing puzzle pieces, but that was my style of reading. Donna Grant is a voice to be reckoned with as she takes you completely into her worlds – and there are worlds, some that lightly connect. I believe some readers will enjoy this one and then walk away – others, like myself, will want to know more and find themselves picking up a new series to devour. Either way, you’re going to find a good solid story, characters to either love or loathe and pieces of a puzzling mystery that is far from solved.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
