It’s a chance to start over for both of them…
Everleigh Girard always dates the wrong men at the worst times. The last debacle cost her a job and an apartment. But thanks to a crazy lottery win, she and her friends have a fresh start restoring a historic inn. Determined to make it a success, Everleigh swears off the dangers of dating entirely. Except…the town’s police chief is distractingly hot. So how much trouble could friends with benefits really cause?
Police chief Matt Halliday always puts protecting his town first. He’s blindsided when his house mysteriously burns down, and grateful his friends rent him a room at their inn while they finish renovations. It’s a great deal. Mostly. It’s hard to resist the very beautiful Everleigh. Love is permanently off the table for him—but lust is definitely on.
After their first red-hot kiss, keeping it casual is impossible. Can Everleigh teach Matt to trust again—especially when he’s keeping a secret that may put him and his new friends at risk?

My Rating: 4 stars
I easily feel back into the Love Lottery world with Matt and Everleigh in Definitely Not Dating. And they aren’t, are they? Well, once again this author has combined a sizzling couple with a touch of mystery and an eventual happy ending for them, but it’s going to take some time and some secrets to be revealed before that can happen.
When Matt’s home burns down in the middle of the night he’s offered a room at the not quite ready for business and under renovations inn (at a reduced rate, gotta pay those bills) until things settle for him. There was already an awareness between Ever and Matt, now they’re in much closer contact with Ever wondering how in the world she’s going to avoid the attraction building between them. Neither wants a relationship, each has their reasons but friends with benefits… in secret? That could work just fine until those pesky emotions get in the way and Matt’s secrets begin to unravel. Matt will never marry again, not after how his ex treated him. Ever always picks the losers and cannot trust herself when in love. Quite the couple, except maybe all they needed, was to find the right person to have love last for a lifetime.
With a sizzling attraction, house fires, secrets, and perhaps an unknown danger facing them Matt and Everleigh have a lot on their plates right now. Add falling in love to that mix and you’ll find an enjoyable, believable romance to devour. I had fun with this couple, there is humor, odd clothing choices, and some fumbling flirting that doesn’t always hit just right, but the intent is clearly there to take this secret relationship to the next level… and public. Now all they need to do is trust each other enough to take the risk and figure out what’s going on with Matt and his secrets.
