A match made in heaven…
When strong, independent cowgirl Jessie McBride meets former Green Beret Asher Chapman while doing PT for her broken leg, the two share an instant bond. Jessie rescues and raises mustangs, while Asher established and runs a foundation that matches veterans with shelter animals. The immediate, fiery physical connection between them is even stronger.
A conflict born in hell
Unlike the girlfriend who left him after discovering the full extent of his injuries, Asher knows Jessie can handle his physical wounds. But he doesn’t believe any woman could handle the secret he can’t even face himself. Much as he wants her…and is becoming convinced he loves her, he can’t risk disclosing what haunts him.
Jessie can’t understand why Asher emotionally pulls her close only to push her away again. Can this wounded warrior learn to trust Jessie to love all of him before he drives her away for good?

My Rating: 4.5 stars
There are parts of Heart of the Texas Warrior that are going to break your heart, but I promise that by this story’s ending it will be all healed up and rejoicing over these two strong, stubborn people finding that everlasting kind of love we all wish for.
There is so much about Jessie and Asher that I would love to talk about… but I can’t, not without giving away details that I normally would not give in a review. But I want to so badly. Asher has my heart, there’s no denying that. He’s such a strong man, even though there are times now that he doubts that very much. His injuries from his time in battle are more than physical, yet he’s not acknowledging that and it shows. His belief that he cannot let himself trust enough to love again is painful and strong but there is one woman who can knock down that wall eventually – if he doesn’t run her off first.
From that first moment at Jessie’s accident to the final page, Heart of the Texas Warrior held my attention and my emotions. This story has everything that I’ve come to expect from this author, a deep sense of honor, sweet moments that move into steamy ones seamlessly, a couple who are realistic, believable in their human reactions to events in their lives, and a secondary cast that always brings the story to life – add some adorable pups and mustangs and I’m in love, it’s that simple.
I had such a good time with Heart of the Texas Warrior, as I have with this entire series, and would not hesitate to recommend these stories to any Romance reader who loves a really good love story, believable characters, and a storyline that draws you in from start to finish.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Tule Publishing. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
