Did you happen to read The Wedding Reject Table? A funny, charming romance. Well, Here Comes The Best Man takes us to the madcap event that is Chad and Maggie’s wedding. And, of course, not everything is going to plan… what wedding ever does?
Josh is Chad’s brother and best man, although a rather reluctant one. Josh has felt a bit of an outsider in his family, he didn’t follow in the family business but instead forged a proud military career. Coming home for his brother’s wedding preparations, the wedding week and all the craziness that entails probably isn’t his ideal location but if he’s to prove to his family, and himself, that he wants to mend fences then this is where he’ll be. There was never bad blood in the family, more like that square block that wouldn’t fit in the circular slot. Josh is out to round off some edges of himself, and this wedding is one place to work on that. He wasn’t looking for love, that was the last thing he expected to find… but when it’s real, even if it’s quick, then you hold on for dear life.
There’s just something about a Southern man’s charm when it’s real and paired with good manners that gets me every time. So, yeah, I fell a bit in love with Josh myself.
Louise is Maggie’s godmother’s PA. And she has her own charm and down to earth-ness that fits perfectly into the wedding week’s chaos that naturally occurs. Leave it to a problem solver by trade to step in to help, and end up discovering that one man certainly does make a difference in a woman’s life. I liked this couple, they each have issues, but they aren’t the total focus of this romance. Here Comes The Best Man is a fast read with low angst but also chock full of meddling relatives, dire pending wedding disasters, a loving couple to be married… and two strangers discovering that love knows no boundaries like countries of origin. I had fun with this trip back into the lives of a couple I enjoyed in their own story to meet another pretty amazing couple as well. This is part of a longer series, but you don’t have to have read any of them to enjoy Josh and Louise’s romance — although I would recommend the entire series for it’s fun and enjoyable.
