What do you do when your cheating husband proposes to the “other woman”? For Jane Madison, it means you keep calm, carry on, and sneak candy bars and wine for dinner. Jane’s grateful for her adorable little girl, yet she yearns for the love that was missing from her marriage. Only one man ever really “got” Jane—and she’s stunned when he returns to Briar Creek. But a single mom can’t date her ex’s best friend… can she?
Jane’s still kind, beautiful—and far too good for the buddy Henry Birch tried to stop her from marrying years ago. Laying eyes on her now is like a much-needed ray of sunshine. Back in town to sell his family’s old house, Henry wants to close a bad chapter in his life and move on. But time with Jane and her sweet daughter has him flirting with the idea of happily ever after—if he can convince her to take a second chance on love.
Read on for my thoughts on Hope Springs On Main Street. No true spoilers, promise.
Henry doesn’t intend to let any dust gather under his shoes while back in this gossiping, opinionated small town. Not with the memories that he carries with him every single day. He’s tried to understand why no one in this town lifted a finger to help him or his sister back when they really needed all the help and interference they could get. But… that was the past, now he just had to close up this house and get gone – again. Until he discovered that Jane was divorced from that scumbag of a husband that he’d tried his best to stop her from marrying. Okay, maybe they were friends, but that didn’t mean that Henry couldn’t see him for the loser that he was… or maybe he just felt that way because of the crush he’d always had on Jane. Now it couldn’t hurt to check up on Jane and her adorable daughter. Just to make sure they were doing okay. And if in the corner of his heart he hoped that Jane might give him a second look and take a chance on him, well even a man can dream.
Jane’s world has imploded. At least she still had her precious daughter with her. The one good thing that she’d gotten from her marriage – the rest was just broken promises and heartache, that continued even now. She couldn’t believe the scumbag was marrying his mistress and staying in town. No wonder wine and chocolate were her new necessities of life.
When Henry walks back into her life Jane starts wondering why she picked the wrong guy so many years ago. He’s charming, helpful, loves her daughter and he completely understands her. The only dark spot is his friendship with the scumbag. Still, she’d give just about anything to discover that she was still loveable, that there was a happy future out there for her – maybe even a second chance with Henry.
I enjoy the dynamics of Briar Creek and always welcome another visit to this small town. Hope Springs On Main Street is such a believable, relatable story. I think we all want to believe there is that one person out there that loves us just as we are, who gets us on every level – and if we didn’t find then the first time, there is always hope for a second chance. I loved Jane and Henry’s romance, building into a forever kind of love. Can’t help it, I’m addicted to good, honest, realistic love stories. This is a story that you’ll want to read. Definitely recommend this story and the entire Briar Creek series to romance lovers of any age.
