There’s a reason why I come back to the What Happens in Vegas series time and time again – they are fun, really good stories.
Jake has very good reasons, at least to him they are, for hiding his identity as an erotic book editor and at times, cover model. So maybe the world wouldn’t end if the general public found out that he has a politician for a brother or the other way around in Jake’s mind… but it certainly feels like something he needs to keep on the down low. Now he has one lovely and determined woman tracking down his alter persona to get an interview, one he has no intention of granting ever. Hiding in plain sight has certainly become quite sexy.
Sadie needs this interview, even desperately needs it if she’s honest with herself. She’s got to get published in order to get tenure, and to finish she needs to interview Jocelyn. Except she keeps running into this handsome, and yes sexy, guy instead. What is his deal? A short interview with his boss, really just a few minutes… but the editor is as elusive as Elvis, and at least he gets more sighting in Vegas.
I had a blast with this story. It’s funny, charming, quirky and just a bit of a lesson to us all to simply be true to yourself. There was one moment during a reveal that I thought Sadie would do something totally wrong, completely wrong. And although it might have been a natural thought when she learned that… still it changed, just a bit, how I viewed Sadie that she would even think of doing that. (Totally on me, and my reactions to the characters.) You’ll know when you come to that part of the book. Overall, I had fun and was completely entertained by Jake and Sadie’s romance. They go through a lot to be together and they grow even more along the way which was refreshing to watch happen.
