Case Lawton comes from a family of criminals. So as the sheriff of Loveless, Texas, he’s determined to do everything by the book–until he’s called to Aspen Barlow’s office after a so-called break-in. The last thing he wants to do is help the woman who cost him custody of his son. But Aspen isn’t the heartless lawyer Case remembers, and he starts to question his long-held grudge…
Aspen is scared for her life, and Case is her last hope for protection. But to get him on her side, she’ll have to reveal the painful truth from all those years ago. Now, as they work together to track down a dangerous criminal, Case and Aspen learn to trust each other. And as the threats escalate, it becomes clear there’s a thin line between love and hate… because there’s nothing Case wouldn’t do to keep her safe.

In a lot of ways JUSTIFIED is far more than a simple enemies-to-lovers Romance. It’s also a story of befriending the new girl in town, a high-school crush, life getting in the way with the wrong decisions for the wrong reasons. Aspen and Case have a history, some of it very anger filled, a good deal of it falls under the regrets category in life. Yet the fact is that right now Aspen is in trouble and as sheriff, it’s Case’s job to protect and serve – and maybe begin the healing of forgiveness along with falling in love with the real woman Aspen has always been.
I fell in love with this series with the prequel UNBROKEN, and JUSTIFIED has only cemented the need for this series in my life. Case and Aspen are such real people facing the bad things that happen in life the best they can. Anger is one way, simply fitting in is another. Now with Aspen in danger Case has decisions to make. Letting go of what happened in the past, understanding it is the first step. Understanding the woman beneath the mask she wears is the final step to seeing Aspen as a woman he wants in his life on a permanent timeframe. There is a real danger, as well as suspense in JUSTIFIED, along with a few people who would qualify for the Biggest Piece of Crap award without a doubt. You will loathe certain people, and they deserve every bad thought you will have about them.
I was entertained, I was held hostage to this story until the final page. Emotionally engaging, JUSTIFIED is one of those stories that stay with you beyond the last page. And now I’m waiting for the next story in early 2020. Love a good enemies-to-lovers story with some suspense and true love tossed in as well? Then you’ll want to get started on this series.
