Twice-buckled American Extreme Bull Riders tour world champion Kane Wilder is riding high at the top of his game, rolling in fame, adulation, women, and money. When he hits his hometown of Phoenix, he’s sure of another win. Nothing shakes his confidence and focus–until he comes face-to-face with his former friend and lover, Sky, holding the hand of a toddler with his eyes and trademarked dark curls and smile. Suddenly winning is about more than sticking his ride for eight seconds.

When one of her artworks is chosen for a world class hospital guild art auction, Sky Gordon thinks she’s finally going to make a name for herself artistically and cleanse her life and heart of Kane Wilder for good. But when Kane shows up at the gallery and learns the secret she’s kept, Sky realizes more’s at stake than just her pride and heart. Kane may be even more devastatingly sexy, but he doesn’t take no for an answer, and he plays to win at any cost.

My Rating:  4 stars

The worst part about assumptions is that they are most often totally wrong.  That’s something that Sky learned the hard way once Kane re-entered her life and discovered exactly what (or who) she’d kept hidden from him for far, far too long.

Kane is an emotional, second chance romance that it high on the emotions, the reasons of the couple, and a bit lower on the bull riders tour.  I might have wished for more of the rodeo, but we did meet up with several former characters so that fix of mine was slightly satisfied.  Sky and Kane had issues in their pasts that partially lead to the decisions they made.  This couple truly needed better communication skills in the past and in the present.  Their assumptions cost them dearly, and although it makes for a good story line, without talking to each other it’s no wonder they ended up as they did.  There were many times I really wanted to reach into the pages and get them to sit down and talk, be straight in their answers, stop holding back and just talk to each other.

In all, Kane was an enjoyable story, one that I had fun with in spite of my constant need for them to talk it out honestly.  You don’t have to have read the other stories in this series – but you’re  missing some amazing stories if you make that choice.  I’d recommend this story and the entire series to any Romance reader who enjoys realistic situations, likable couples and well, a love of the rodeo doesn’t hurt.  *grin*

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
