For five years, Cecilia Morgan’s entire existence has revolved around playing personal assistant to self-centered former NFL quarterback Wade Carter. But just when she finally gives her notice, his father’s health fails, and Wade whisks her back to his hometown. CC will stay for his dad—for now—even if that means ignoring how sexy her boss is starting to look in his Wranglers.
To say CC’s notice is a bombshell is an insult to bombs. Wade can’t imagine his life without his “left tackle.” She’s the only person who can tell him “no” and strangely, it’s his favorite quality. He’ll do anything to keep her from leaving, even if it means playing dirty and dragging her back to Credence, Colorado, with him.
But now they’re living under the same roof, getting involved in small-town politics, and bickering like an old married couple. Suddenly, five years of fighting is starting to feel a whole lot like foreplay. What’s a quarterback to do when he realizes he might be falling for his “left tackle”? Throw a Hail Mary she’ll never see coming, of course.

I love the anticipation of starting a new series, of meeting new characters – good and bad – and simply the discovery of a small town’s secrets and the shenanigans of its residents. There is some world building in NOTHING BUT TROUBLE, there frankly has to be since we’re meeting a lot of Credence residents who may, or may not, have their own romances told one day soon. I didn’t find it overwhelming or overly long, but then, I expect the first book to give me background like this so I wasn’t surprised.
CC and Wade are an amusing couple on so many levels. And yes, they are in so many ways, like an old married couple already. It’s only when Wade realizes that he’s about to lose the only woman he’s been able to trust, depend upon and like that he starts to see her in another light. CC may have wanted to walk away from Wade and his lifestyle but she couldn’t right now, not with what’s happened with his dad. But she didn’t expect the attraction she’s having toward this very different Wade to be so strong – or to like this man more than she should. Watching them work their way through their attraction to finding lifelong happiness was an enjoyable journey. There are plenty of likable characters in NOTHING BUT TROUBLE and I’m certainly looking forward to finding out who ends up together. There is a secondary romance going on in this story as well. I’ll admit that I wish this couple had been given their own story, but I was happy for their ending as well. If you love a good romance with interesting characters then I’d definitely recommend this one.
