There’s a killer in the picture . . .

Celeste Cabot has a flair for painting–and a touch of paranormal talent too. She’s just arrived to sell her artwork at a big craft fair in North Carolina, complete with rides, games, and deep-fried everything. But the sunny landscape takes on a darker hue when her Chihuahua, Van Gogh, leads her to the riverbank–and to a body that was definitely not part of her design.

With help from a handsome fellow artist, Celeste sets out to draw the brazen killer onto her canvas. She’ll need to balance the victim’s past, a suspected love triangle, and a long-ago accident–and also consult with a medium and a spirit–to try to paint a murderous fiend into a corner . . .

I’m a bookworm, a mathematician, not the kind of girl a hot lobster fisherman would notice.

Until he did.

I’m not in small-town Nova Scotia to hook up. I’m here to settle my grandmother’s estate and sell the B&B, which I soon discover has been overrun with seasonal fishermen and operated on the honor system. The hard-core fishing folks become an instant family––the one I never had. Then there’s the blind pet cow, who has a crush on my hot fisherman, Nate. Okay, technically he’s not mine. I have no desire to get reeled in.

Until I do.

Soon, the little town grows on me, and the fisherman? It’s not long until I take the bait and we’re playing house at the B&B. Things are looking up.

Until they aren’t.

Rumors about a new plant and jobs being in jeopardy start swirling around town like a nor’ easter, and all the signs point to my guy being behind the scandal. Should I give him enough line to play it out and learn his true intentions, or cut and run before I’m hooked?

As a book review blogger, I’m accustomed to being turned down for ARCs, and usually, it doesn’t truly faze me beyond a moment of disappointment and an “Oh, well, I’ll just buy it on release.” mindset.  Yet, I kept trying with one big publishing house for three years now – and still, the answer is No.

By their auto-response email definitions, I do meet their requirements for ARCs.  So, obviously, I’m missing something, not doing something… not good enough, not big enough, not “whatever” enough.  At this point, I’m just banging my head up against a wall – and I’m done with the headache, really, really done.

It would be easy to do the “reader revenge” thing by thinking “Ok, fine, I’ll just not buy any books from your publishing house ever again.  So there!  You’ve lost my significant money input.”  But the reality is I love so many of their authors, I’m hooked on so many series, I look forward to their new releases… and I don’t want to stop reading any of their books.

So.  Here’s the last “I’m so mad. So hurt. So disappointed.” post about the subject – and then, for my own well being, I’m simply letting it go and not asking again.  I think the world of today is playing heavily on my reaction.  I’m already somewhat depressed, antsy by being self-isolated for two months (so far) and that’s playing a part in how this simple rejection is affecting me.  I get that.  I acknowledge that.  But, sometimes I just have to say, “Ok, I tried.”  And let that be enough.

“She’s your baby, Noah Dawson. She’s your responsibility now.”

But is she? Noah is willing enough to believe the adorable newborn left on his doorstep is his child.

And then his ex, Sara Mayhew, turns up, claiming the baby is hers–a twin to her infant son–and Noah realizes he’s not the father. Even so, the cowboy has already turned his life around and swapped his spurs for a baby carrier.

Despite their still-powerful attraction, Sara isn’t ready to trust the “new” Noah. But he’s already fighting for their future as a family…

He’s all wrong but he makes her feel like she’s flying…

When Sierra Carmody lands a temporary job as a private helicopter pilot for Garret Tate, it’s a dream come true. The last thing she expects or wants is to fight a powerful attraction to her new boss when their families share a painful history. But Garret draws her like no other, and she can’t stop thinking about him.

His world is sinking but she feels like solid ground…

Garret Tate is determined to be nothing like his father, which means keeping his hands strictly to himself around the hired help. But Sierra tempts him far more than just physically. She’s smart, funny, capable, and honest, and everything he never knew he wanted. It’s not long before they give in to their off-the-charts chemistry. But just as they start to think it’s real love, Garret’s father’s dark past catches up with them, threatening to bring everything crashing down.

Torn between family loyalty and love, can there be a safe landing?

Another crazy week in paradise!  Kinda.  Sorta.

This post has been shared on The Sunday Post, a weekly recap from so many amazing blogs is hosted by Kimberly over at Caffeinated Reviewer.  This word link and the graphic will take you to The Sunday Post meme for this week – enjoy.  🙂

Life got crazy around here in February, and ever since – and I’m sure for most of the rest of the world as well.  As a lone wolf myself, (which comes naturally to me) I’m used to enjoying just my own or my family’s company.  Not going out when the mood to socialize hits me is… odd.  But by self-isolating, I feel we’re doing the right thing.  So far we are doing fine physically – just going a bit bonkers from only enjoying the walk down the driveway to the mailbox or endless (it seems) walks around the backyard with my pup, Harley.  I know others have not been as lucky and my heart breaks for them.  I’ve gone through odd days, some mourning doing nothing more than playing video games, others a massive cleaning spree, but always books are my escape.  So I’ve read a lot… a lot.  Not doing so well with keeping up with reviews but working on that.  There is no “normal” at the moment, only getting through the day and thankful for our health knowing that could change at any moment.  Maybe this is the new normal, for now, at least.

Anyway — this week on the blog (May 1-10):

Yeah, I know.  It’s a lot for one week – but, as I mentioned earlier, I’ve gotten way behind on getting reviews up even though I’ve been reading up a storm lately.  This coming week will be overloaded as well – but then I should be back on track with scheduled posts and quick “I just read this great book” posts.

I hope you and your loved ones are doing well.  I’m sending out a virtual ((Hug)) to everyone who needs one right about now.

Halloween is the biggest holiday of the year in Salem, Massachusetts–but when B&B owner Charlene Morris finds the dead body of a witch, it spells trouble…

Charlene, recently widowed, has renovated her historic mansion just in time to greet guests arriving for the town’s annual Halloween festivities. She’s lucky to have a helpful staff to provide support–as well as a handsome ghost named Jack standing invisibly by her side.

Unfortunately, while the revelers head out on haunted tours, have their fortunes told, or grab a drink at Brews and Broomsticks, a killer walks among them. When Charlene discovers Morganna, a local Wiccan, dead in her shop, she starts getting cozy with the local coven, looking for clues to locate the crafty culprit. Salem may be famous for the false accusations of witchery in centuries past, but this time someone is genuinely guilty–of murder…
