What if your dreams were so close you could reach out and touch them?
How could anyone resist Michael Tennant, with his hypnotic blue eyes and a voice like molten chocolate? Jessie Simmons certainly can’t. But Jessie’s a single mum who can’t sing to save her life – there’s no way she’ll ever cross paths with the star tenor.
At least that’s what she thinks until she’s unexpectedly invited to take part in a new reality TV show. The premise? Professional singers teach hopeless amateurs how to sing. The surprise? Jessie’s partner is none other than Michael Tennant!
As she becomes better acquainted with the man behind the voice, will Jessie find out the hard way that you should never meet your idols? Or will she get more than she bargained for?

Title: Reach for a Star

REACH FOR A STAR is a delightful romance of two unlikely to ever meet people who discover that not only can dreams come true, but sometimes they are far better – and far scarier – than could have ever been imagined.
Jessie has a star crush, which from afar is perfectly safe and enjoyable. Enter into the picture her sons, engaging, sneaky little ones, who enter their mom into a reality show contest to meet the singer she adores from afar. Now, Jessie couldn’t carry a tune in a basket to a concert to save her soul… but this is just too good to pass by. After all, the show is all about teaching those who can’t sing a clear note by professional singers who definitely can. And if there’s a bit of tension, some undercutting, and some major shenanigans going on – well it is reality TV, what else would you expect? Maybe for the unlikely to happen as star and single mom make a connection beyond the cameras and fall in love for real.
There wasn’t one thing about REACH FOR A STAR that I didn’t enjoy. Even the nasty person, for they got what they deserved in the end. As always, I was easily transported to this world by Kathryn Freeman with two people who might never have crossed paths but luck, fate, or little ingenious boys made that meeting possible. Michael was swoon-worthy, I expect nothing less, but his bark has no bite since… well, no, you’ll have to figure that out on your own. Jessie is a loving mom but she’s also a woman falling in love with her idol trying to figure out what is real and what is smoke or mirrors in this world where she’s a bit out of her depths. I loved watching them work their way to each other, in spite of roadblocks and at times, themselves.
If you love a really good romance, a couple that fit as though they belong, and a love worth fighting for then you need to go pick up REACH FOR A STAR, now. I had an excellent time with Jessie and Michael – I’m certain you will, too.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Choc Lit. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
