My Rating: 4.5 stars
I easily fell into Reclaiming His Legacy with two compelling main characters that are each hiding so much of their true selves from the world and each other. Blake and Madison have a really rocky road to travel before that happily ever after kicks in for them. Yet that journey is filled with bittersweet emotions, dealing with grief, putting aside everything else for the good of one very special person, and beating one of the most loathsome men I believe I’ve ever read about at his own game.
You’ll find if you’ve read the first story in this duet, Entangled with the Heiress, that parts of the timeline between these two books meet upon ocassion. I enjoyed stepping back into the lives of Rhett and Trinity, even for those short bursts to get a look at their romance from another angle.
I enjoyed the underlying tensions in this story on both Blake’s and Madison’s parts – both for very different reasons, each was right, and each was wrong watching that battle of emotions, of learning, of acceptance was a large part of why I simply loved Reclaiming His Legacy. We are not the person someone meets for the first time. Until you get to understand the “whys” of a person you just won’t get the reasoning behind their actions. I think that is very true for Blake and Madison. I’m sure I’ve met villains as bad as this one before, but Blake’s father takes a cold-hearted, arrogant, piece of crap to a totally new low. Watching him, eventually, get exactly what he deserved was priceless.
In all, I had a really good time with Madison and Blake in Reclaiming His Legacy. An enchanting love story, underlying tensions, beating the bad guy at his own game, and a forever kind of love – what more could you ask for. I definitely recommend this series.
