Cover Description:
Since the loss of her family in a plane crash, Harley Diekerhoff has led a quiet life and keeps to herself. Taking the temporary job at the Copper Mountain Ranch as widower Brock Sheenan’s housekeeper seems perfect for her. But her calm cocoon is invaded with the arrival of Brock’s pre-teen twins, Mack and Molly who’ve never experienced a proper Christmas and before she knows it, Harley’s determined to make their holiday perfect.
Annoyed at first by Harley’s interference, Brock is secretly pleased she’s changed Mack and Molly’s world. It doesn’t hurt that he finds Harley incredibly attractive, fierce, smart and passionate. It’s also an added bonus that she’s not afraid to challenge him and get his blood heated! But when sparks fly and the attractions sizzles between them, Harley’s not so sure she can handle something permanent with this dark, taciturn cowboy who doesn’t know how to let her in. But Brock is determined to hold on to her and praying for a Christmas miracle.
Read on for my thoughts on Christmas at Copper Mountain. No true spoilers, promise.
In the synopsis of Christmas at Copper Mountain, you have the basic story. What you don’t get from that outline are the emotions that will surround you as you fall into Harley and Brock’s story. Harley’s life has been turned upside down and now, slowly after three long years she is starting to heal. She has taken a temporary housekeeper and cook position at Brock’s ranch while his regular housekeeper is away. In this beautiful winter wonderland, far away from the memories of her family back in California Harley believes she can make it through this holiday season. The memories are always with her, but being away from her parents and siblings means that no one knows about or will mention her own lost family.
When Brock’s twin eleven year olds arrive home unexpectedly, Harley falls apart. The last thing she expected was to be around children near the age of her own. Especially when they show up early, obviously unexpected by their father and said father never, ever mentioned their upcoming visit to her. If she had known she would have never taken the job.
This lovely story is about four people finding each other, not replacing those members that have passed on, but enhancing their lives once more. Life does go on, and romance and love is possible when the right people find each other. This is an emotional story, and an entertaining story. It is also the first in the Taming of the Sheenans series.
I enjoyed this story very much. Even though it has been released for a few years now – that does not diminish the enjoyment of Harley and Brock’s story. While this is clearly a Christmas themed novella, it can be read at any time of year. A good love story is always in fashion, in my opinion.
**Any review is just one person’s opinion. You might feel the same or totally different. The only way to know for certain is for you to read it. This was my opinion of this particular book.**
