*I received an e-ARC of Die For Me from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange
for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
I can’t imagine how it would feel to love a man enough to be ready to marry him, only to discover that he is killing other women.
Read on for my thoughts on Die For Me. No true spoilers, promise.
Katherine was being stalked by a killer. A man from her past that she had prayed she’d never hear from again. And then the roses came… and hell started all over once again.
Die For Me was a fast paced, tug at your heart mystery. This story does reach into an emotional part of murder that we as readers don’t get to experience often. We might know who the killer is, we may be along for the race to capture them – but we rarely get to see the devastation that they leave behind for their families, those that loved them… once.
We are brought along every step of the way as Katherine has her life disrupted one again. The man who was known as the Valentine Killer in Boston seems to be on a spree once again in New Orleans. The city where Kat – Katherine been relocated to in order to be safe. But if he is in town, no one is safe. She does what no one expected – she walked into the police station to speak to the detective in charge of the newest case… she was not going to hide again.
This is how we meet Dane Black and his partner – and an entire police department, a U S Marshal specializing in getting people new lives and a obsessed FBI Agent who never believe Kat was as innocent as everyone else did. These are some of the people who will lead the chase to find the Valentine Killer, using Katherine as the perfect bait.
There is an attraction between Katherine and Dane which builds throughout the story. But it never gets in the way of the story.
I was impressed with the twists and turns that the author had me taking. Just as I settled into the story, another twist. The moment I knew what would happen next, another turn. It was such an enjoyment to be constantly put off of my line of reasoning – frustrating but entertaining.
Of course the novel comes to a conclusion – that’s not why we’re here. For that part you need to go read the story. I definitely recommend that you pick up this novel soon. Because it is worth your reading time. I don’t know about you, I don’t want to waste the time I try to fall into an author’s world. I didn’t have to try, I just tumbled and enjoyed the ride. You will, too.
