Synopsis:

Grace is young and has led a sheltered life. She hasn’t yet taken much of an interest in men. It’s only while doing an internship in London, where she meets the alluring Jonathan Huntington, that our sleeping beauty is awoken from her slumber. Jonathan is rich, incredibly attractive, and stems from British royalty – but he is a far cry from Prince Charming.

He lures Grace ever deeper into his world of sinister passion, and she is sucked further and further into the maelstrom of her own growing desires. But when Jonathan demands she do the unthinkable to prove her love for him, she realizes just how dangerous her feelings for him are.

Read on for my thoughts on Unbound ~ Colours of Love.  No true spoilers, promise.

For me, Unbound ~ Colours of Love was difficult to put into a “category” of romantic fiction.  More than Contemporary Romance, definitely Erotica, maybe Womens Fiction – I don’t know that if truly fits any one of those, perhaps more a combination of them all.

There have been comparisons to 50 Shades of Grey… well, maybe – but Mr. Grey could take a few lessons from Mr Huntington, that’s for sure.  So let me put it this way.. don’t automatically dismiss this novel because you didn’t like 50 Shades – and if you absolutely loved 50 Shades, be prepared for more, delivered a bit differently, but definitely more.

I adored Grace.  She is a bit of a bumbling hot mess… at times.  She makes mistakes, the kind that cannot be quickly swept under the rug.  But ones with consequences.  And she makes the silly, “I assumed something” else kind of mistakes.  She’s human in a klutzy, naive, sweet kind of way.  I’m sure she will grow over the course of the four novel series, but for now she is young, learning about a world she never imagined existed.  And she is fascinated by Jonathan.  He draw her like that moth to a flame.  She might get burned, but she’s not going to back away now.

Jonathan.  Hot, sexy, powerful, ultra-Alpha male – Sin Walking.  He’s also a very emotionally closed off man.  Passion he has in spades, the ability to love – I’m not so sure, at this point in the series.  This is a powerful man who does not do relationships.  He does sex.  Lots of hot, blow your mind, sex.  It’s all he requires from any “relationship”.  And at the time of the first book, I’m not too sure that I really like Jonathan that much.  He is definitely a love/hate character, flipping my feeling about him constantly.

Fair Warning – there is a huge cliffhanger.  Huge.  But it will blow your circuits away.  Just sayin’.  Definitely enough to make grabbing the next in the series immediately if not sooner to see what happened.

*I received an e-ARC of Unbound ~ Colours of Love from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
