Natalie Duncan is thrilled to get her first teaching job, but southern California didn’t prepare her for winter in Montana—or for gorgeous fire chief Hawk Winchester.

For a man dedicated to putting out fires, Hawk really knows how to add heat to Natalie’s life, especially when he’s rescuing her from compromising situations. A man this strong and capable should know exactly what to do when a lady is trapped under the mistletoe.

Suddenly Natalie’s blue Christmas is glowing red-hot.

Read on for my thoughts on Safe In His Arms.  No true spoilers, promise.

Natalie never realized just how much her life was about to change when she accepted her first teaching job.  From the heat of Southern California , she had arrived totally unprepared for a Montana winter – or for one hot fire chief, Hawk Winchester.  She’s heading into town with a  list of life goals to be checked off unknowing that a gaggle of meddlesome matchmakers already have her future (and Hawk’s) mapped out perfectly.  Now all it needs is for these two to fall in love.  Easy, right?

I have yet to meet a Melody Anne story that I didn’t love – and that streak just continues with Safe In His Arms.  This story first appeared in 2014’s anthology Baby, It’s Cold Outside.  So to be fair, if you’ve read that anthology then you have read this novella.  This romance begins the Unexpected Heroes series as the prequel to the rest of the series.

Because this is a short novella I don’t want to give too much of the story away.  Natalie is a sweet young woman who is completely on her own.  She has, in her mind, her life mapped out and a timeline for goals to fall into place.  And while I am a great believer in having a plan, you also need to leave a little wiggle room – which Natalie didn’t.  As she comes into Sterling, Montana she is totally unprepared for the weather, the small town-ness, the close community – and definitely unprepared for a man like Hawk.

Hawk is a determined bachelor, so determined that he won’t date women from his small town, and usually has a three date limit before moving on.  He’s not a cad, he just isn’t ready to settle down just yet.  But one meeting with Natalie will soon have him changing his mind in a hurry.

So enjoy the journey as we watch three very determined matchmakers help Hawk and Natalie discover just how right the are for each other this holiday season.

Safe In His Arms is a charming, sexy and believable romance that any reader who enjoys a good love story should pick up.  Not only is it a fun and interesting story, this one also sets up the beginning of the series which promises even more couples finding their special someone.  Besides, it’s always fun to watch matchmakers at work.  *wink*

*I received an e-ARC of Safe In His Arms from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
