Title: Shattered Fear
Series: Sons of Broad (#1 of 3 prequel novellas)
Author: Tara Thomas
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Published: February 6, 2018
Publisher: St. Martin’s Press
My Rating: 4 stars
Shattered Fear is the first of three short, intense novellas introducing the Sons of Broad series in a rather intriguing manner. Janie has been working undercover in a bar she believes is connected to the disappearance of several women. She’s a cop through and through and every instinct she’s ever trusted says that the handsome as sin Brent is a man she should be keeping an eye on… for more than one reason. He fits what she believes she’s looking for in her suspect. He also fits what she’d be looking for in a man completely for herself. Lines are drawn, and crossed.
The action of the story begins very quickly and I was tossed into a mystery and a very hot relationship immediately. Nothing wrong with either of those things – and even knowing this is one of three prequel novellas I was a bit surprised at the sudden dive right in feeling to Shattered Fear. Because this is such a short beginning there really isn’t much I could safely say without giving away something. So I’ll call this novella intriguing, it caught my imagination enough to want to move on to the next story to find out what is happening.
If you love Romantic Suspense, and enjoy an almost serialized beginning to a new series then I’d recommend that you get in on the beginning of the Sons of Broad series with Shattered Fear. It will definitely grab your attention.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
