Will their competitive spirits ruin the spirit of Christmas?

When Ben Winters and Lara Cottridge hear that a Vermont radio station is hosting a Christmas contest with a $10,000 prize for a charitable project of the winner’s choice, they seize the challenge. Although strangers, they both are obsessed with all things Christmas and each has their own worthy pet project in mind.

News of the contest creates a lot of buzz, but most participants fall at the first hurdle – a timed online quirky Christmas quiz. The second, a stressful on-air quiz whittles the field down to two – Briarhill Falls residents Lara and Ben who are surprised that they have never met.

As the contest heats up with five further Christmas-themed challenges, the town and state become enthralled by the battle of wits and skill. Soon Lara and Ben realize they have far more in common than a love of Christmas. And far more at stake. Will their competition stand in the way of falling in love?

Title:  The Christmas Contest

My Rating:  4.5 stars

THE CHRISTMAS CONTEST is certain to get you in the Christmas mood, give you more than a few chuckles, open your eyes to the need all around us where help could be used, and brings two strangers together in a most unusual fashion – maybe for a lifetime.

What you need to know before picking up THE CHRISTMAS CONTEST is in the Cover Description.  What you won’t find there are the immediate connection and affection you’ll find for Lara and Ben.  Both qualify for resident Christmas nut and really should be living at the North Pole in Santa’s Village.  Seriously.  They both love anything Christmas and aren’t the least bit shy of showing that love for such a wonderful time of the year.

While Lara and Ben’s competition, and competitive natures fascinated me throughout their story is was the underlying determination to fulfill a need that they saw in their community, in others’ lives that won my heart in this story.  There are really so many wonderful Christmas Romances out there, old ones to re-read and newly discovered ones – I get that, I do.  Still, if I could get you to try just one new story this year it would be THE CHRISTMAS CONTEST for it brings alive the real, in the heart feeling of this Season.  Their growing love for each other is obvious, their need to win changing as that loves becomes more important than “winning”.  This is a story that will do your heart good – especially in our world today.  I loved it, plan to re-read it next year and would not hesitate to recommend this one to any other Christmas Romance reading nuts out there like me -or just a reader who loves a good Romance set at any time of the year.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Tule Publishing. That does not change what I think of this story.  It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
