“I’m alone in the dark, please can you find me …”
Nine-year-old twins Abigail and Olivia vow never to be parted. But when Abigail goes missing from Blackwater Farm, DC Jennifer Knight must find her before it’s too late.
Twin sister Olivia has been mute since Abigail’s disappearance. But when she whispers in Jennifer’s ear, Jennifer realizes it is Abigail’s voice pleading to be found.
A damp and decaying house set in acres of desolate scrub land, the farm is a place of secrets, old and new – and Jennifer must unravel them all in order to find the lost girl. But could Olivia’s bond with her twin hold the key to finding Abigail? And can Jennifer break through her silence in time to save her sister’s life?
Read on for my thoughts on The Silent Twin. No true spoilers, promise.
The Silent Twin is such a chilling, gripping and downright scary story… I’d suggest don’t read it on a dark and stormy night!
Once again DC Jennifer Knight is assigned a case that will also need her special abilities to solve. One twin is missing, the other hasn’t spoken a word since the disappearance of her sister – except when DC Knight arrives it seems that the missing twin is whispering to her through the silent twin.
With a cast of odd parents, and spooky happenings in and around the old farm house, it truly becomes a race against time to find Abigail alive. There are so many twists and turns to this dark thriller that to say too much more would give away parts of the mystery that you should discover for yourself.
So let me say this – I was glued to the pages as this story unfolded. With clues scattered about it’s not always obvious who the true monster is. I completely enjoyed my time in this world and of course, came no where close in solving the mystery on my own.
You don’t have to have read the earlier DC Jennifer Knight stories to enjoy this one – but you are missing some very good storytelling if you haven’t so I’d suggest that you look up the previous novels for your own enjoyment.
Yes, even though I’ve been vague on details (for your own protection) I would highly recommend The Silent Twin for anyone who enjoys a good mystery or thriller… and isn’t afraid of the dark. Enjoy.
*I received an e-ARC of The Silent Twin from the publisher, Bookouture and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
