Welcome to the charming, fatefully named village of Loves Bridge, where a woman destined for spinsterhood can live a life of her own choosing—or fall unexpectedly, madly in love…
Miss Isabelle Catherine Hutting would rather be lounging in the library than circling the ballroom in search of a husband any day. So when Cat hears that the town’s infamous Spinster House is open for a new resident, she jumps at the chance to put all this marriage business behind her. But first she must make arrangements with her prospective landlord, Marcus, the Duke of Hart—the most handsome man she’s ever seen, and the only man who’s ever impressed her in the least…
With her wit, independent spirit, and not least of all her beauty, Marcus can’t help but be stirred by Cat. It’s terribly unfortunate he’s not looking to marry, given the centuries-old curse that left his family with the Spinster House to begin with. No duke shall live to see his heir’s birth. But is there a chance the curse could be broken—in true fairy-tale fashion—by an act of true love? The race to Happily Ever After is about to begin…
Read on for my thoughts on What To Do With A Duke. no true spoilers, promise.
What To Do With A Duke is such a charming, even a bit magical romp. Cat finally has the chance to escape her family and their constant demands and chatter. Oh, she loves them all dearly but there are so many of them and all she wants is some peace, quiet and a place of her own to write. That opportunity is suddenly more than possible when The Spinster’s House becomes vacant again. Now she simply needs to convince the Duke of Hart that she is the perfect person to take up residence.
Marcus, the Duke of Hart is a charming character somewhat outside of the norm in Historical Romances in that he longs for a wife, family, true love and a future with one special woman who understand him. The curse on his family has pretty much doomed that – but it never stops him from wanting it. The curse states that unless Marcus marries a woman who truly loves him as much as he loves her… then he will die before his heir is born.
Cat is lovely and perhaps a bit unsure about this whole curse thing. Marcus certainly believes it but she’s not so sure. With a little help from a magical cat Marcus and Cat will foil the curse and open up The Spinster’s House for its next occupant… very soon.
I loved What To Do With A Duke. It’s charming witty, funny and sweet all rolled up in a delicious tale of magic, curses and true love. What’s not to enjoy about that?
I would recommend this one for any Historical, Regency or simply a Romance reader who enjoys a touch of magic mixed in with their love stories.
