Love runs wild at the Sagebrush Flats Zoo, where a motley crew of big-hearted animals helps the most unlikely couples find love.

When Katie Underwood discovers a litter of newborn cougar cubs, the last person she expects to come to the rescue is her former crush―and high school nemesis―Bowie Wilson. The worst part? He doesn’t seem to remember the trouble he caused her.

As a single father and owner of a cash-strapped zoo, Bowie struggles to balance budgets while raising his pre-teen daughter and a host of rascally animals. He considers himself lucky when Katie agrees to lend her talents to a publicity campaign in support of the zoo’s animal rehabilitation programs―until he learns just what she’s planning.

This time, Katie is determined to resist Bowie’s charm. But a lovelorn camel, a matchmaking honey badger, and a nursemaid capybara have different plans. Can they and the rest of the zoo’s menagerie help Bowie break through the barriers surrounding Katie’s heart?

My Rating:  4.5 stars

Wrapped within a very satisfying romance is also a very relevant and emotional subject.  Wild On My Mind will bring two people back together who have had a very rocky past.  There is never a time when bullying should be glorified or accepted.  The devastating emotional, and perhaps physical reminders of being bullied can last for a lifetime.  Laurel Kerr brings a very touchy subject into the open with class and gentleness.  There are reasons that factor in to Bowie’s younger man’s actions, never excuses.  A person can look in the mirror and not like what they see – and change themselves, but the past remains, and the actions of the past can live on a very, very long time.

I was easily drawn into Wild On My Mind.  I liked the characters, adored one little girl who stole every scene she’s in… and came to respect the adults that grew out of their shared and troubled pasts.  You’ll find your emotions in this one – anger, distrust, hope, redemption, love, tears and laughter are all going to factor in as you read  Katie and Bowie’s story.  Told through several and one unique point of view, this is a story that will stick in your mind, your heart even and have you waiting for the next story in the series to arrive.  I’m being vague on purpose for I truly think this is a story best discovered by each reader for their own reactions to the events.  But I will say that there is one honey badger you’ll fall into love and laughter with… you’ll see.  I enjoyed my time in a world that came alive through description and dialogue, with characters who feel real and with an underlying lesson to be learned as well.  If you love Romance, changing past mistakes, adorable kids and lively zoo animals, then you’ll enjoy Wild On My Mind.
