Mike Dalton has secretly loved LilyAnn Bronte since they were all children together in the small town of Blessings, Georgia. But one fateful day T.J. Lachlan roars into town and starts showering LilyAnn with his charm, and Mike feels his dream of them being more than friends slipping away.

To find the love you missed
LilyAnn, as anyone in Blessings will tell you, let herself go after her fiancee was killed in Iraq. The attention of the handsome new guy shocks her into a revelation: she’s ready to live again, and maybe the best is yet to come. The thing is, everybody in Blessings is sure it’s Mike and LilyAnn who belong together-and they’re willing to do whatever it takes to make LilyAnn realize the love of her life has been by her side all along.

Read on for my thoughts on You and Only You.  No true spoilers, promise.

This is a reissue with a few changes of a novel originally titled The Curl Up and Dye.  The changes made were minimal, so if you have read the original be aware that this title is a reissue.

Welcome to Blessings, Georgia.  A small town with a friendly atmosphere, neighbors who know your business but also have your back.  Life moves at a slower pace here – but that doesn’t mean it’s boring at all.

There’s nothing like a new man in a small town to stir things up a bit.  When TJ shows up and begins to show LilyAnn some serious attention it definitely is noticed.  Why?  Well, the town is protective of LilyAnn for good reason.  She’s been living in a bit of a time warp for years now.  When the young man she was to marry was killed in combat LilyAnn’s life stopped.  Heartbroken, she no longer cared about much of anything.  Looks shouldn’t matter but when you change so much from the young woman you once were, well friendly and yes noisy neighbors and friends get concerned.  LilyAnn went through the motions of life, and truly didn’t care about their opinions or herself.

Yet, let’s be honest here, when a handsome man believes you’re interesting and wants to bring you out of your shell – that’s something that might get a woman’s attention.  The past was gone, and she could not change it.  But what if there is a future out there somewhere for LilyAnn.  Doesn’t she deserve a second chance at happiness.

The sad thing is that there has always been a man who loved her exactly as she is, no matter the years or the friendship only rules.  Mile has loved LilyAnn for years, long before she gave her heart to another man who died before she got her happy ending.  He wants nothing more than to love her, protect her and give her the most happy ever after that he can produce.  But she’s never seen him as more than a friend – and now, if he doesn’t make a move soon he’ll lose her to another man, again.

You And Only You is a charming second chance, friends to lovers romance.  Sometimes the best is right before our eyes, but we somehow miss seeing the reality of what true love friendship can hide.  It was satisfying to watch LilyAnn re-emerge to life once again.  And for her to see the man of her dreams be the reality of the man she’d always known.  We don’t always get second chances, I loved watching this couple find theirs.

*I received an e-ARC of You And Only You from the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

Available in paperback and for the Kindle
