‘Betting on a Fortune‘ is the fifth title in the multi-author ‘The Fortunes of Texas: Rambling Rose‘ series, and while I usually enjoy this author I have to admit that Ashley and Rodrigo’s romance was not my favorite of the series. That was due to one character’s portrayal, not the story itself, just to be clear. Unfortunately, Ashley’s actions were more of an entitled, spoiled teenager playing at business instead of a young professional, capable yet still learning. She fights Rodrigo’s suggestions tooth and nails throughout this story – but he doesn’t do much better in the constant internal dialogue of protecting himself against falling for someone again after what his ex did to him. I didn’t care if they got their happy ever after ending, at all.
‘Betting on a Fortune‘ did move the series along in other areas, so for that, I’d consider this a good story. I wish I could have found a connection, a caring for what happened to this couple but I simply didn’t. It happens sometimes. Yet, to be frank, this is simply my opinion – yours may end up being quite different, so I’ll leave the final decision up to you to give this book a chance and see this couple through your own eyes.
I own a Kindle edition of this title.
