Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally, they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, once hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. Find out more here.
I seem to be waiting for books releasing next year these days – perhaps it’s the being cooped up in a quarantine state of mind that has me reaching for the future. But this one really caught my eye, not only because I love the author’s work but because it’s relevant to so many women beyond that first bloom of their 20s – there comes a moment to embrace who they are wholehearted. And that is what ‘Gray Hair Don’t Care’ is all about. Now I don’t pretend to know your book preferences — but this looks like fun to me. 🙂
Gray Hair Don’t Care
At 47, newly divorced makeup artist Lela Bennett is dreading her next steps. Dating. Meeting people. Not letting herself go. But then she runs into Donovan James and tries something different—sleeping with her sexy crush from college. Unfortunately, in a post-orgasm stupor, Lela confesses she was in love with Donovan all those years ago. He responds by leaving while she sleeps. The next morning, her gray hairs are practically taunting her. She knows she has to get it together. Forget men. Embrace her age. Own her gray.
Now, it’s three years later. Donovan, marketing genius and, as his ex-wives will tell you, freaked out by feelings, is focused on his daughter’s lifestyle company. He’s floored when he meets the face of the beauty division. It’s Lela. With stunning silver locks and new confidence, she’s no longer swayed by his charms. When business starts booming, the universe seems intent on throwing them together time and again. And suddenly, two people convinced that romance was behind them, are wondering if love could be what’s next.
I love the cover which was revealed on August 17, 2020. That lovely lady has a ‘take names and doesn’t care attitude’ that I certainly wish I could adopt at times. I’m really looking forward to this one, in fact, I’ve got it on pre-order already. February 8, 2021, may seem like forever away, but the time will pass. And I’m definitely looking forward to Lela’s story.
