Can she find the courage to love again?

With running the busy small-town hospital at Waratah River and setting up a foundation to help others achieve their dreams as he has, Dr. Scott Carruthers has his plate full. So when a beautiful specialist obstetrician is employed to ease his workload, his inconvenient attraction toward her is a complication he doesn’t need.

Dr. Franceen Lewis arrived at Waratah River Hospital to start her life over. After a tragic loss and the resulting breakdown of her unsuitable marriage, she’s ready to focus on her career and help those who need her. Working with Scott challenges her not only professionally, but personally. Getting involved with another man is not on her to-do list, but Scott shows her again and again that not all men are as shallow and unreliable as her ex.

The longer they work together, the harder they fall…but can Franceen really put the past behind her and reach for the happiness she deserves?

Title:  Doctor in the Outback
Series:  Welcome to Bunya Junction #3
Author:  Nicole Flockton
Genre:  Contemporary Romance

My Rating:  4 stars

Doctor in the Outback is the third title in the Welcome to Bunya Junction series, and although I’ll always recommend reading a series in order – if you cannot do that then Franceen and Scott’s story could easily be read as a stand-alone… but the entire series is well worth your time.

Franceen and Scott have an immediate attraction and eventually, a slow-burn romance as Franceen has been hired at the hospital to not only help Scott but is given the chance to restart her own life after her marriage dissolved and she was able to leave one nasty ex far behind.  I enjoyed how they fit together in personalities.  Each has issues they are dealing with, neither really was looking for romantic entanglements but love usually has its own agenda.

I always enjoy visiting the Outback through Nicole Flockton’s stories, and Doctor in the Outback gave me another look at a place I’d love to be able to visit… one day.  The unique location is just as much a part of this story as Scott and Franceen are.  I liked this couple both individually and together.  Franceen has understandable trust issues, and she’s going to fight the attraction she has for Scott.  I think watching her self-discovery, seeing Franceen grow beyond the woman who first arrived was a large part of my enjoyment of this story.  Everyone has past baggage to be dealt with, yet sometimes we just have to take a risk, trust that our emotions are safe with someone – and I was so glad to see Franceen finally trust Scott with her heart.

If you love location romance, a slow-burn love story, interesting characters, and a situation that will provide both laughter and tears before that final happy ever after… then you’ll want to pick up Doctor in the Outback real soon.
