Emily Ammerman has always felt at home amid the ski runs and slopes of Snowdrift Summit; the Colorado resort her family has operated for decades. Snow is her element, and she doesn’t hesitate when a new client asks her to train him to ski The Plunge, one of Colorado’s most treacherous runs.

But Zach Ryder is no regular client. On screen, he’s famous for starring as a daring CIA officer who always saves the day. In real life, he’s just as handsome and charming as his alter ego, though not everyone is impressed. Some are concerned about what kind of impact these slick showbiz types will have on their town.

As for Emily—she’s got a secret, and it’s one she can’t reveal to anyone, especially not to Zach: she’s his biggest fan. But she’s also a professional. She’ll train him till he’s ready to tackle any slope, but she won’t fall in love with him the way so many others have.

Still, not everything in life can be planned, and sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you just can’t help but fall . . .

Emily has finally stood her ground and told her parents that she wants something different than taking over the family ski resort.  Since the resort has been in the family for some time now, it came as a bit of a surprise that Emily would want something different.  But they’ve agreed to her request, and she’s agreed to their wishes… for the moment.

Zach may be a daredevil onscreen, but even the best need training on some things.  And Zach definitely needs training on a difficult ski slope that will play a major part in the current film he’s starring in.  The best ski instructor for that mountain slope?  Emily.  Life in this small town just got interesting.

Toss in best friends who stake their own claim, residents who aren’t very trusting of these outsiders coming into town, and a major decision for Emily, and you have a situation (and a story) that is full of possibilities along with some major entanglements.

I found Falling Stars to be a funny, romantic story with all the small-town shenanigans and opinions I’d expect, along with two people who really do set sparks off of each other trying to find their way into each other’s worlds.  While I wouldn’t necessarily call this a Christmas Romance, it certainly does have elements of the holiday and plenty of heart throughout.  I had fun here, and if you’re in the mood to begin your Christmas-y reading now, then this one would be just right for you.
