The Garrett family have been ranchers and cowboys for generations—they love the land, and the joy of family and children.

Cade Garrett’s orderly life is upended when his sister and her husband are killed in a plane crash. He’s ready to step in and take care of their two young children, but he’s thrown for a loop when the children’s aunt is named their guardian and plans to take the children with her to Dallas.

Unexpected sparks fly when he meets Jennifer LaChance. Can Cade and Jenn band together for the good of the children—or only create all kinds of opportunities for friction?

Forever My Cowboy continues the Garrett Family Saga series with a story that will in some ways break your heart for those involved, and then slowly, steadily heal it back enough to allow love to mend those broken spaces.

Cade and Jenn’s lives were turned upside-down when Cade’s sister and Jenn’s brother were killed in a plane crash leaving two very young children orphans.  Little Leo at age 3, and tiny Lissy at age 1 would have no obvious idea of what happened to their parents, but their aunt and uncle certainly did.  Cade thought he’d be raising the children with all of his family’s support behind him – until Jenn showed up, late for the funeral and according to the will, now has full, sole custody of the little ones.  To say that these two got off to a bad start would be the understatement of the year.

First impressions aren’t always the right ones, and soon Cade will realize that behind Jenn’s off-putting personality lies a woman who has lost the last member of her family, is facing the life of a parent with stubbornness, and is deeply grieving her brother’s death in the midst of it all.  When it becomes known that the plane didn’t crash from mechanical or pilot error but from a deliberate act now Cade and Jenn need to track down a murderer while keeping the children, and the rest of the Garrett family safe.  (Of course, the family doesn’t need any help, and Big Jim is right there with thoughtful words and support when needed.)

While I enjoyed Forever My Cowboy it took me a while to really connect to Jenn.  I think her personality is written this way for a purpose, but I was totally on Cade’s side for most of the tension parts of this romance.  We’ll get time spent with the large Garrett family, in small doses, throughout this story, watch a slow burn romance between Cade and Jenn, and finally discover who the murderer is.  I’ll be keeping an eye out for the next story in the Garrett Family Saga.
