The Dating Dare by Jayci Lee

Posted August 6, 2021 by Marsha in Contemporary Romance, NetGalley, Series, St. Martin's Press / 2 Comments

No serious relationships.

This is the one rule Tara Park made for herself and it has been working swimmingly, thank you very much. The occasional fling is fine, especially since she’s busy with Weldon Brewery. But when Seth Kim, temptation personified and her best friend’s new brother-in-law walks into her life, Tara might be willing to bend her golden rule…but only for four dates—the four dates she agreed to after a few good rounds of beer and a game of truth or dare. It’ll be fun. No biggie.

Seth Kim can’t believe Tara agreed to his dating dare. He’s leaving for a new job in Paris in a month and a no-strings-attached fling seemed like a nice little distraction for both… But their secret dates, while sweet and sexy, always hit roadblocks straight out of a romantic comedy. Thankfully, their non-dates and chance meetings are smoother, frequent, and heated. However, the more Seth sees of Tara, the less willing he is to let her go—and what was supposed to be a fun little game turns into something that neither of them is ready for.

But sometimes, the best things in life are the ones we never see coming.

Besides, lovely Miss Pryde seems utterly smitten with a roguish London playwright . . .

Vanessa thinks a little scheming may be in order—for it’s Sheridan she truly has her sights, and her heart, set on. Her theatrical flirtation is intended only to break through his business-like demeanor and guarded emotions. This Highland lass is a little too unpredictable, but maybe that’s exactly what an overprotective Highland wolf needs in his life.

Enrick MacQuarrie has no time in his life to worry about anything beyond the duties of being the second-in-command of his Highland pack. Work always comes first. Until a movie being filmed at Enrick’s castle results in an enemy clan bent on revenge, and Enrick is tasked with keeping his longtime packmate Heather MacNeil safe.

Impetuous Heather MacNeil has had a crush on Enrick for as long as she can remember, but never any hope he’d reciprocate her interest. Weekly Wrap-Up Sunday Post #13

Posted August 1, 2021 by Marsha in Discussion Post, Sunday Post / 6 Comments

Another crazy week in paradise!  Kinda.  Sorta.

This post has been shared on The Sunday Post, a weekly recap from so many amazing blogs is hosted by Kimberly over at Caffeinated Reviewer

This word link and the graphic will take you to The Sunday Post for this week – enjoy.  🙂

Just Life:

Well.  Whewww! *plops into a chair exhausted*  Yes, still unpacking boxes, finding places to put things, and basically making this new house our home – but that’s certainly not a bad thing, simply a time-consuming thing.  How I envy people who can move and have their home set up – completely – in a few days!  What is the secret?  I seem to keep rearranging because I don’t like where I put something… then have to go back and start all over again!  And don’t get me started on drawers!  I have a huge kitchen now, with an island, and tons and tons of drawers on one wall.  Why is that a problem?  It’s not… I just can’t remember what I put in those drawers so it’s a puzzle finding things for now.  🙂

So, on to the important things — books.  🙂

I’ve made my monthly Harlequin haul for review over on my Happily Ever After Romance blog – I should do a Sunday Post for that, too, but it seems a bit overkill to take up two spaces on Kimberly’s list.  I picked up a few new-to-me authors, but they certainly aren’t new to everyone.  I got Nicki Night’s Intimate Negotiations and Oh. My. Goodness.  How in the world have I missed this author before now?  She writes an amazing, believable romance that had me hanging on to my Kindle hoping that the characters would make the right choices.  Now, I need to go to the backlist and get caught up!

For Keeper Bookshelf I picked up Heather Graham’s newest Krewe of Hunters release, The Forbidden – I’ve been addicted to this series for so long now and it still keeps my attention riveted to the book and keeps getting better over time, in my opinion.  I still have so many NetGalley reviews to get caught up on but I couldn’t resist two Christmas romances (I never can pass by a Christmas romance).

Until next week – I hope all your reading has a happy ending… or at least a good one. 🙂

Little Girl Taken by Wendy Dranfield

Posted July 29, 2021 by Marsha in Bookouture, Crime, Mystery, NetGalley, Series, Thriller / 0 Comments

Rain rattles through the trees as she leans into the car, careful not to touch anything. Two pretty blue eyes stare back through the dark, wide with relief, or maybe fear. A baby girl, wrapped up in a pink snowsuit, reaches out a tiny hand. Her mother is nowhere to be found…

An abandoned baby is the last thing Detective Madison Harper expects to find as she drives to her first day back at work since the case that ripped her life apart. But as she cradles the shivering child close, all her instincts tell her there’s something more sinister at play. Then she finds a lone sneaker down a muddy trail nearby, the laces spattered with blood…

In a town as small as Lost Creek, Colorado, the baby and the shoe are quickly identified as belonging to Kacie Larson, a waitress at the local diner who quietly stashed away her tips to make a better life for her daughter. A mother herself, Madison can’t believe that Kacie would just abandon her child, but she also can’t convince her new team. Not for the first time, Madison feels she must go it alone to get the job done.

But when a body is pulled from a nearby lake, and it’s not Kacie, the case takes an agonizing turn. Is this missing mother really who she says she is? Is there a chance she’s still alive? Madison barely has time to think before the sweet little girl she rescued is snatched on a crowded street. Gone, in the blink of an eye.

To break this case and earn her place back on the force, Madison must learn to trust her team, and herself again—and fast. If she doesn’t find this twisted individual in time, a little girl could die…
