Synopsis:

A hundred years ago, a tiny town on the Puget Sound attracted a passel of bachelors desperate to marry. Thanks to the miracle of mail order, they did, and Weddingville was born. Hollywood costumer Daryl Anne Blessing knows that story all too well, and she hasn’t missed it, or much else about her hometown—except for hunky photographer Seth Quinlan. Now Daryl Anne returns to Weddingville to see her best friend say I do… and witnesses a whole lot of something hitting the fan—and it’s not rice.

As the maid of honor, Daryl Anne must keep the bride calm, no matter what. But last time she checked, “what” didn’t include the bride’s estranged mother turning up, scandalizing the locals—and getting herself murdered. Nor did it include digging for clues with Seth, while trying to remember exactly why she left him behind. It’s quite a juggling act, even for a seasoned multi-tasker like Daryl Anne. She soon attracts lusty glances from Seth—and the attention of a killer who’s determined to take this town out of business.

Read on for my thoughts on A Wedding to Die For.  No true spoilers, promise.

It’s always exciting to me when I begin a new series.  That first book will, most often, set the pace for the rest of the series.  And it will often decide for me if I will continue to read the coming novels.  Weddingville is a series that I will come back to again.  In a town so rich in history, and such a colorful cast of secondary characters, it is easy to see where there are more stories to be told in this small town.

Daryl Anne has returned to Weddingville to stand as maid of honor for her best friend, Meg.  Both women had left Weddingville in the dust when they moved on to life if the big city – but Meg wanted to be married in her hometown, and what the bride wants, the bride gets according to her maid of honor and best friend.

What should have been a normal wedding event filled with the usual stress of finding the right music, the perfect food and the most beautiful wedding bouquet possible – was anything but perfect.  Between the groom being almost an invisible jerk and Meg’s mother showing up at the worst possible time in Meg’s life, (no she was not a welcomed Mother of the Bride kind of woman) this wedding was turning into a living nightmare.  Then it got worse, when the woman no one wanted at the wedding was murdered.

Rediscovering Seth, the wedding photographer, was probably one of the few good things to come out of Daryl Anne’s return to her hometown.  When she started asking questions about the murder, when more odd things kept happening surrounding the wedding and when it seemed that a killer now had Daryl Anne in his sights, Seth was there at her side.  Would they find their happy ever unexpected after?  Only time will tell, but they are getting off to a very intense start on their relationship.

This is a novel full of suspense, mystery, romance and an engaging cast of characters.  In my opinion, it is an excellent start to a series.  Some solutions, yet enough questions left that will pull you back for the next installment.

If you like some romance mixed in with your who-done-it type of novel, you’ll enjoy A Wedding to Die For.

*I received an e-ARC of A Wedding to Die For from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
