Story Blurb:
On a rainy Southern night, Jade Sperry endured a young woman’s worst nightmare at the hands of three local hell-raisers. Robbed of her youthful ideals and at the center of scandal and tragedy, Jade ran as far and as fast as she could. But she never forgot the sleepy “company town” where every man, woman, and child was dependent on one wealthy family. And she never forgot their spoiled son, who, with his two friends, changed her life forever. Someday, somehow, she’d return, exact a just revenge — and free herself from fear, and the powerful family that could destroy her.

**This novel describes a brutal rape. If this might be a trigger for you – please read no further and click away now.**
This was a re-issue of Breath of Scandal – and it is also now available in e-book format.
Rape happens in big cities – small, sleepy company towns – and everywhere inbetween. Jade was raped by the wealthiest man in town’s son and two of his friends. She was young, beautiful and her family, like every other family there, was dependent upon this young man’s family for work and a paycheck.
Jade will eventually leave town. She will make a plan that might take years to carry out – but she will have justice on these three men.
Breath of Scandal takes us on Jade’s journey. It is not a pleasant one nor an easy one to read. But it is a suspenseful, intense, and well designed story. (you must remember that this novel was originally published in 1991 – writing was a bit different then, and attitudes were as well)
This is a novel that needs to be read to fully get how much it will affect you. It’s not easy, it’s not always a pretty novel to read – but it is powerful and riveting.
I would recommend this novel. I enjoyed the story delivery and the intensity of Jade’s journey. I’d give it a 4 outta 5 on my rating scale. Yes, this is an extremely short review – but some books just really need to be read not explained.
*I received an e-ARC of Breath of Scandal from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
Breath of Scandal is available in Hardcover, paperback, audio and on Kindle from Amazon.
