Proper young ladies of the ton-especially ones who have very small dowries-are not encouraged to have an interest in intellectual pursuits. Indeed, the only things they are encouraged to pursue are eligible bachelors. So, the headstrong Sloane sisters must keep their passions a secret. Ah, but secret passions are wont to lead a lady into trouble . . .

With her older sisters both happily married, Caro Sloane yearns for a romantic adventure of her own. Unfortunately the muddy, sulfur-scented waters of Bath seem the least likely setting for love or excitement. But the aspiring young poet soon finds inspiration when she runs into a familiar-and achingly handsome-Scottish laird.

Visiting Bath with his sickly sister, Alec McClellan is shocked to be reunited with Caro Sloane. He hasn’t been able to forget the English beauty since their brief but exhilarating first meeting. But Bath is not nearly as serene as it appears, and soon Alec must protect Caro from a danger that threatens to extinguish the sparks flying between them. Little does he know that a bit of danger is exactly what Caro is looking for.

Read on for my thoughts on Passionately Yours.  No true spoilers, promise.

We have come to the third sister in The Hellions of High Street series by Cara Elliott.  Scandalously Yours and Sinfully Yours (my review links) told the stories of the older Sloane sisters.  In a way we watched Caro grow up a little bit along the way and now she is a young lady, a poetess, ready to take on the world and the ton herself.  At the moment she is rather bored and dying for an adventure like her sisters experienced.

While her mother takes the waters in Bath, Caro has been spending time with her friend Isobel.  The season of Bath is enjoyable, but still Caro is bored and looking for adventure.  She finds it when she discovers that Isobel’s brother is none other than Alec McClellan, who she had run into during a brief stay in Scotland.

Alec is not the gruff, at times grumpy laird that he portrays to the world.  Oh, yes, some of it is his natural personality but there is far more to Alec than he allows to meet the eye of the casual observer.  But then Caro is far from that and she senses the more passionate nature hidden beneath his gruff exterior.. and sets out to release it.

I adored Caro and Alec together.  She wanted an adventure?  Well, she certainly got one with Alec.  This couple is charming without being sugar sweet, passionate, definitely sexy and a true match for each other.  I admit to being sad to see the sisters’ stories come to a close (it seems) but I more than enjoyed the journey with them.

Looking for an involved, fun Regency romance to touch your heart and keep you turning pages then pick up Passionately Yours.  You will enjoy the time spent with these characters.
