If this is your first venture into the Rock Chick world, then I’d gently suggest you back out and start at the beginning.  Do you “have” to?  Of course not, yet this series builds on each previous story in many ways, on the relationships that have happened and the ones yet to come.  Yes, the series has been around for several years now, but there is always someone coming to this world fresh – and to them, I’d say go back to Rock Chick and begin this adventure from there.

Even though I’ve re-read this series several times now, for me, Rock Chick Reget is the most emotional, hard-hitting to the heart story of them all.  I’m not afraid to say I cried, several times, throughout Sadie and Hector’s story.  I don’t expect that to stop happening at any time in the future.  Sadie has been through much in her life already, and she’s about to go through even more.  Always hidden behind her Ice Princess persona, Sadie rarely lets anyone in. allows no one to see the true Sadie.  She might have with Hector, one impulsive night but then he went and said something stupid and the ice shields came up and stayed up.  Now Sadie needs the help of the man who put her father in prison, the men he works with and for… and she’s certain this is not going to go well.  She was right.

For some readers, there may be triggers in this one as Sadie is raped.  I don’t like to give spoilers but even though this book has been around for a very long time, it still needs to be said.  Through the majority of Hector’s and Sadie’s story, I moved between complete emotional involvement and intense anger at several people, Rock Chicks and Hot Bunch included.  In the end, yes, things evened out, explanations were given and accepted but that didn’t (and still doesn’t) stop the anger I felt toward several favorite characters for not listening, not seeing through the mask Sadie wore so often.

Watching walls crumble, hearts mend, friendships form and trust begin makes Rock Chick Regret well worth all the emotions I felt throughout.  Mainly because it’s so real – we don’t see behind someone’s mask, we make assumptions that are often wrong, and we don’t always give the breaks to people that we should.  So, yes, in so many ways this story is realistic in the emotional response it will bring out in the reader.  It’s an emotional roller coaster of a romance – but in my opinion, well worth every minute, every tear, every smile that this group of people provided for me.

I would highly recommend Rock Chick Regret without hesitation – simply be prepared for an emotional story that will leave its mark on you.
