He’s ready to score…
Wes is ready for the ride of his life now that his baseball career is taking off. He just needs to tie up loose ends at his family’s farm before spring training, a task he can’t focus on when the hometown rumor mill informs him that Emma is speed dating her way through the Last Stand locals in a bid to settle down. Wes knows he should leave well enough alone. But one hot look from his ex has him rethinking their split – and determined to show her what she’s missing!
This series is part of the Last Stand, Texas group of connecting series. (think Marietta, Montana– Tule Publishing’s other large set of series set in a fictional town) For a look at the other series that connect centered around this town please visit our Last Stand, Texas page.

It’s always a bittersweet moment for me when a series I’ve enjoyed greatly seems to be winding down to the conclusion such as the Texas Playmakers series with Scoring Position, the third Ramsey brother’s story. I’ve learned to never say the actual end on any series or trilogy but this one feels like it to me. If so, I’ve enjoyed the ride immensely… if not, then I’ll happily fall into this world again without hesitation.
Once there was a time when Emma and Wes were a couple in love until college came along and their life plans took different paths. Now, years later Emma is ready to settle down with a husband, children, and a solid life while Wes is in town to deal with his family’s farm and get ready to return to baseball. It only takes the rumor mill and one look at Emma dating someone else to get Wes all riled up again, missing what they once had. And like any red-blooded male who sees his ex with someone else and knows he still has feelings there he sets out to show Emma what she’s missing by turning him down – trouble is, he actually means it and his heart is in deep trouble right now.
Scoring Position is such a poignant story. I liked both Wes and Emma, it’s hard to dislike two people who are so right for each other yet need to find a way to work their lives together. I also couldn’t take sides on this one as each has valid reasons for what happened in the past, and for what may happen now. There are bumps in the road to a happy ending for this couple but they are believable and could be worked around if they are willing to take the risk of loving each other for a lifetime. I have loved all the Texas Playmakers stories but this one took a bit more of my reading heart by the ending. I won’t spoil it for any other reader, but this story is one that I loved, couldn’t put down, and sighed with happiness at the final page. Don’t know of a better recommendation than that.
Plus I completely loved the addition of another couple’s love finding its way home – you’ll adore the side story right along with the main characters, I’m quite certain of that.
