Cover Description:
Ben Noble needs to do some damage control. Fast. His heart has always been in ranching, but there’s no escaping the spotlight on his high-powered political family. Now the only thing that can restore his reputation is a getaway to the fresh air of Aspen, Colorado. Not to mention that the trip gives Ben a second chance to impress a certain gorgeous mountain guide. But Paige Harper is nothing like the shy girl he remembers . . . she’s so much more.
Paige is serious about Ben, too: seriously annoyed that the playboy cowboy is using her mountain for his PR. Once upon a time, she fell for Ben’s aw-shucks charm, but the fairy tale didn’t end happily. Paige doesn’t intend to let down her guard again. But keeping their relationship all business and no pleasure may be harder than she thinks-especially if the moonlight, the Rockies, and a certain irresistible rancher have anything to say about it.
Read on for my thoughts on Something Like Love. No true spoilers, promise.
Ben and Paige’s story background began in the first story in the Heart of the Rockies series, No Better Man. While, in my opinion, you don’t have to have read this series from the start to enjoy or even understand all the lives involved — it would certainly give you all of the nuances and undertones of this excellent ongoing series. So if you get the chance, pick up No Better Man it’s a great story.
Watching Ben and Paige’s romance move from little trust to romance was an enjoyable journey. This is a couple that belongs together – and they have a lot of baggage and obstacles to get past before they get their happy ever after.
Paige doesn’t have the best relationship with her family, her interests and desires for her future are so different from theirs. But she is determined to follow through on her dreams of a therapy program for the disabled. She’s got a shot but she has to put on the very best face ever for one very important person – the man she almost got involved with, the last man that she should trust right now.
Ben is determined to treat this chance with Paige far different than their previous encounter. There are so many things that could stand in the way of Ben and Paige having a relationship, one that matters And the people in their lives aren’t going to make this romance easy – at all. But the attraction is still there, all it’s going to take is for Paige to give Ben a chance to show his true colors.
Ben is a man divided, he wants the ranching life but politics is also in his blood. His decisions are going to affect many people – but ultimately it’s his and Paige’s happiness that matters most..
I found Something Like Love a fascinating love story. One with complications and misunderstandings and family getting in the way. But that’s life – and a good romance. I’d definitely recommend this story and the series to any romance reader who wants believable situations, relatable characters and a good solid story.
