Can they turn one spectacular night into a lifetime of love?

After a disastrous ride forces world champion saddle bronc rider Chase Walker back to his family’s ranch to recuperate, he’s happy to distract himself for a night with a mysterious, gorgeous woman. It should have just been a one-night stand, but she’s unforgettable.

Thanks to her cheating ex-fiancé, Ella Slade is done with rodeo cowboys…until she meets a sexy cowboy who catches a thief who stole her purse. What harm can one night of indulgence do? A lot, apparently, because when she arrives at her interview for a ranch manager job, Chase turns out to be her prospective boss. She’s adamant she won’t mix business with pleasure, but Chase suggests a deal—Ella takes the job, and they pretend that night never happened.

The longer they work together, the harder it is to pretend. Chase knows he’s falling for his midnight lover, but can he convince Ella to risk her heart again?

Titles in the Texas True series include – Texas Forged – Truly, Madly Texas – Texas Made

If you’ve enjoyed returning to Whiskey River, Texas then this new series is somewhat connected to the Devil’s Rock at Whiskey River & Whiskey River series.  You don’t need to have read those series first, just a few other places to visit should you find you want more of the Texas town where so many handsome cowboys hang out called Whiskey River, Texas.  🙂

Title:  Truly, Madly Texas
Series:  Texas True #2
Author:  Eve Gaddy
Genre:  Modern Western Romance
Published:  April 29, 2021
Publisher:  Tule Publishing
My Rating:  4.5 stars

Truly, Madly Texas continues the Texas True series with a delightful romance between two people that aren’t looking for love… at all.  Funny how that happens so often, but the heart has its own timetable that’s for certain.  I confess that I adore the men of Whiskey River, Texas — I have yet to meet one that I didn’t (eventually) adore, even if some have given me pause along the way.

Chase and Ella are definitely not on the hunt for anything permanent when it comes to relationships.  Ella has just left behind her lying, cheating ex-fiancé and, unfortunately, her job because of him.  Chase has his eyes set on his rodeo career, and he’s normally really good at what he does except that right now he’s back home at the ranch recovering from a very bad accident while competing.  He has no intention of giving up the career he loves, but for now, he’s looking for a ranch manager and the best of all those that interviewed for the position is Ella.  A woman he spent one incredible, unforgettable night with – talk about awkward and complicated.  Now to convince the stubborn woman to stay, work with them, and they’ll simply pretend that one night never happened.  Yeah. Right.  Ella won’t mix business with pleasure but she really wants and needs this job so she’ll ignore the sizzling chemistry between them… for now.

I always love getting lost in any of this author’s stories.  She writes believable characters with sizzling chemistry, usually a stubborn streak, and puts them in situations that anyone could imagine themselves in.  Both Chase and Ella have issues, each believes they won’t change their minds or their way of life.  Yet finding that person who is exactly right, who fills in all the empty spaces is difficult to walk away from.  I enjoyed watching their mindsets slowly change, to allow each other to still be themselves while falling in love with all of the risks involved with giving a heart away.  It’s not an easy situation, each has to give a bit, accept a bit more, but overall believe in the depth of the other’s love for them.

Returning to Whiskey River, Texas is a joy and Truly, Madly Texas is a story that drew me in and kept me captivated by Ella and Chase’s love story.  If you love a good romance with complicated situations and stubborn characters then you’ll feel right at home here.  Texas Made is up next and I’m looking forward to that one.
